Crispy Corn Recipe

Crispy Corn is a very simple and easy to cook dish. This delicious dish can be served as starter or snack.

While making crispy corn we have to be very careful while frying, as the hot corn kernels often splutter and they may come over on your face and body. So for the safety, you have to cover the pan with a splatter screen or lid.

Corn is a rich source of calories and the calorific content of corn is 342 calories per 100 grams, which is among the highest for cereals. Corn is also a rich source of vitamins A, B, E and many minerals. Its high fiber content ensures that it plays a significant role in the prevention of digestive ailments like Constipation and Hemorrhoids as well as Colorectal Cancer.

Ingredients

  • Sweet corn - 1 cup ( 200 gm )
  • Corn flour - 3 tbsp
  • Rice flour - 3 tbsp
  • Pepper Powder - 3/4 tsp
  • Green chilies - 3 nos ( chopped )
  • Garlic cloves - 3 nos ( chopped )
  • Ginger - 1 small piece ( chopped )
  • Celery - 2 stem ( chopped )
  • Tomato sauce - 4 tbsp
  • Red chilly sauce - 2 tbsp
  • Sugar - 1/4 tsp
  • Spring onion - 3 stem ( chopped )
  • Vegetable oil - 200 ml
  • Water - 1 cup ( 100 ml )
  • Salt to taste

Method

Step 1

Clean the corn with water.

Step 2

Heat 1 cup of water in a bowl and add sweet corn into it and cook for 10 minutes on a low flame. Drain the water and keep aside.

Step 3

Take a bowl and add corn, salt and pepper powder and mix it well. Sprinkle rice flour and corn flour over it and again mix well. Rest it for 5 minutes.

Step 4

Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan. When oil is hot, sprinkle handful of corn mixture in the oil and fry the corn until crispy. This will take about 4 minutes on medium flame.

Step 5

Once the corn is crispy, remove it from oil and drain on a paper towel.

Step 6

Heat 3 tsp of vegetable oil in a pan and add chopped garlic, ginger, green chilies, celery and saute for few seconds on a low flame.

Step 7

Add tomato sauce, red chilly sauce and sugar into it and mix well.

Step 8

Add fried corn into this and mix well until the sauce coats the corn. Switch off the flame.

Step 9

Transfer to a serving bowl and serve hot. Sprinkle with spring onion.

Step 10

Tasty Crispy Corn is ready.
