Jeeraka Kanji is a Ramzan (Ramadan) special dish. This dish is commonly made during the month of Ramzan (Holy month of Ramadan).
- White Rice - 1 cup
- Grated Coconut - 1/2 cup
- Turmeric Powder - 1/2 tsp
- Coriander Powder - 1/4 tsp
- Nalla Jeerakam (Cumin Seed) -1 tsp
- Uluva (Fenugreek Seed) - 1/4tsp
- Ashali Seed (Cress Seed) - 1 tsp
- Shallots - 5 Nos
- Water - 5 Cups
- Salt to Taste
- For seasoning:
- Sliced Shallots - 4
- Pure Ghee - 2 tbspn
Clean the Rice.
Take a pressure cooker add rice, turmeric powder, coriander powder, uluva, ashali seed, water and cook for 5 minutes.
Grind coconut, shallots and cumin seeds to a smooth paste.
Add this smooth paste into the cooked rice.
Add salt and cook for 3 minutes. If Kanji is too thick add little more water.
Heat a pan add ghee and sliced shallots. Shallow fry the Shallots and Garnish. Tasty and delicious Jeeraka Kanji is ready!
