Mutta pola is a Malabar snack recipe which is very rich and tasty. As the name indicates, the main ingredient is egg. Myself, a good admirer of Malabar foods, tried many types of other traditional egg cake recipes, but nothing can beat this pola recipe.

Ingredients

  • Eggs - 3 nos
  • All purpose flour - 5 to 7 tbsp
  • Sugar - 5 tbsp
  • Cardamom powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Turmeric powder - a pinch
  • Baking soda - a pinch
  • Cashew nuts - 10 nos
  • Raisins - 10 nos
  • Ghee - 2 tbsp

Method

Step 1

Beat eggs well in a bowl with a spoon.

Step 2

Add sugar and beat again. Add cardamom powder, turmeric powder and baking soda. Mix well.

Step 3

Then add all purpose flour to it, mix slowly and the batter is ready, The batter must be in pouring consistency.

Step 4

In a pan, heat 1 tbsp of ghee and fry cashew nuts and raisins. keep it aside.

Step 5

Heat a pressure cooker in a low flame, add 1 tsp of ghee and spread the melted ghee nicely everywhere.

Step 6

Pour the egg batter into it and close the lid (do not place weight). Keep it in very low flame for 5 minutes.

Step 7

Open the lid, add the fried cashews and raisins. Close the lid and cook in a low flame for 16 minutes more. Use a toothpick to check the cake. Insert the toothpick in the center. The cake is properly cooked, if the toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Step 8

Transfer to a plate and let it cool.

Step 9

Tasty Mutta Pola is ready. Slice it and serve.
