Omana Pathiri – Quick & Easy Snack Recipe

Omana Pathiri ഓമന പത്തിരി / Egg Filled Pancake is a typical Malabar snack which is usually prepared in Ramadan season. Omana Pathiri is very delicious and easy to make snack recipe.

There are different pathiries named kaipathiri, neriya pathiri etc. Omana pathri is a pan cake with egg masala filling.

Omana Pathiri is a must try typical malabar snack recipe. You can serve it as an Iftar snack.

Ingredients

  • Maida / All purpose flour - 1 cup
  • Egg - 1 no
  • Salt - a pinch
  • For making the filling:- Onion- 1 no (chopped)
  • Ginger garlic paste - 1/4 tsp
  • Eggs - 2 nos
  • Green chilly - 2 nos (chopped)
  • Tomato - 1 no (chopped)
  • Red chilli powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Turmeric powder - a pinch
  • Garam masala - 1/4 tsp
  • Coconut oil - 3 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Water - 1 cup

Method

Step 1

To prepare batter, mix maida, egg and salt in a bowl. Add water slowly and mix well with a beater or spoon until no lumps are found. The consistency should be of dosa batter.

Step 2

Heat a non stick frying pan and pour one laddle full of batter and spread the batter in a circular motion. Cover with lid and cook for 2 minutes on medium heat. The pancake is ready.

Step 3

Beat eggs well and keep it aside.

Step 4

Heat oil in a pan. Add onion and saute till the onion turns to light brown.

Step 5

Add ginger garlic paste, chopped tomato and saute till they become soft. Now add the red chilly powder, turmeric powder, garam masala powder and saute till oil starts to separate. Sprinkle enough salt and mix well.

Step 6

Add beaten egg to the masala and scramble it well and make a dry masala. Switch off the flame and keep it aside. The filling is ready.

Step 7

Put some filling into one pancake or dosa and roll it tightly. Repeat the same process with all the remaining dosas and egg filling.

Step 8

Yummy Omana pathiri is ready. Enjoy!!!
