The Pineapple, named for its resemblance to the pine cone, is a tropical plant with edible multiple fruit consisting of coalesced berries, and the most economically significant plant in the Bromeliaceae family. Pineapple are consumed both fresh and cooked, canned, juiced, are found in a wide array of food stuffs –dessert, fruit salad, jam, yogurt, ice cream, candy- and as a complement to meat dishes.

The flesh and juice of pineapples are used in cuisines around the world. Crushed pineapple is used in yogurt, jam, sweets, and ice cream. The juice of the pineapple is served as a beverage.  Raw pineapple is an excellent source of manganese and vitamin C. It is also a good source of vitamin B1, vitamin B6, copper and dietary fiber.

Pineapple juice contains the enzyme bromelain. Bromelain is a natural digestive enzyme that also has anti-inflammatory properties. To make pineapple juice, put pieces of pineapple in the blender and extract the juice. Add some sugar or honey to sweeten the taste if sour. Ingredients

  • Pineapple - 1 (peeled and cut in medium size pieces)
  • Water - 4 cup
  • Sugar - 1 cup
  • Lime - 1 no
  • Ice cube - 3 nos

Method

Step 1

In a blender add the pineapple pieces with the water, sugar and lime juice and blend well.

Step 2

Strain the juice and serve with ice cubes. The tasty pine apple juice is ready.
