- Ingredients For Puttu:
- Roasted rice flour - 3 cup (240 ml size cup)
- Grated coconut - 6 tbsp
- Grated beetroot - 5 tbsp
- Grated carrots - 5 tbsp
- Salt - to taste
- Water - as required
- Ingredients For Tuna Stir Fry:
- Tuna Tin Fish - 2 tin (Drain water in tin and squeeze Tuna from it)
- Chopped onion - 1/2 cup
- Chopped tomato - 1/2 cup
- Ginger paste - 1 tbsp
- Garlic paste - 1 tbsp
- Chopped green chilli - 3 nos
- Chilli powder - 1 tbsp
- Coriander powder - 1/2 tbsp
- Turmeric powder - 1/4 tbsp
- Garam masala - 1/2 tbsp
- Oil - 2 tbsp
- Salt to taste
Make White Colour Puttu :
Mix together rice powder, 2 tbsp grated coconut, salt and water to make a coarse mixture and not a mushy texture.
Make Pink Colour Puttu :
Boil grated beetroot in 5 tablespoon of water.
Mix together rice powder with boiled beetroot, 2 tbsp grated coconut, salt and adequate water to make a coarse mixture and not a mushy texture.
Make Yellow Colour Puttu :
Mix together rice powder with grated carrots, 2 tbsp grated coconut, salt and adequate water to make a coarse mixture and not a mushy texture.
Make Tuna Stir Fry :
To a hot pan, add oil and saute all ingredients other than tuna fish one by one in the above given order.
Once these items are sauted well, add tuna into it and stir fry for 10 minutes on a low flame.
Once the water disappears, you can switch off the flame and tuna stir fry is ready to steam with puttu mixture.
Cooking Method of SEA PUTTU:
Heat up the vessel with water and allow water to simmer.
Fill the cylindrical Puttumould (called Puttu Kutty in Malayalam) with the rice mixture layered with tuna stir fry on both ends.
Cover with the lid. Place this mould on top of the simmering water vessel.
Steam passing through the lid hole shows that the puttu is cooked and ready to serve.
Tasty SEA PUTTU is ready
