Squid Pepper Fry Recipe – Kanava Pepper Fry – കണവ പെപ്പർ ഫ്രൈ
Squid Pepper Fry is a tasty dish enriched with the goodness of squid and flavors of pepper, garlic and other spices. Squid are marinated and cooked with other ingredients. It is so delicious and crispy. It is very easy to make and nutritious too. It is rich in calcium and phosphorous.
Squid / Calamari / Koonthal / Kanava is a popular sea food. Squid is low in calories, contains no saturated fat and is high in natural protein. Squid are prepared in different ways in different countries. It can be grilled, added to various cooking preparations including pasta, or fried in cooking oil either plain or battered and served with a choice of dips including lemon, ketchup.

- Squid - 250 gm
- Ginger garlic paste - 1/4 tsp
- Green chilly - 3 nos
- Onion - 1 no ( chopped )
- Black pepper powder - 3/4 tsp
- Red chilly powder - 1/2 tsp
- Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
- Garam masala - 1/4 tsp
- Lemon juice - 2 tsp
- Curry leaves - a few
- Coriander leaves - 2 tbsp
- Coconut oil - 5 tsp
- Salt to taste
Clean and cut the squid into pieces. Make shallow slits in the squid so that it gets marinated well.
Take a bowl add red chilly powder, turmeric powder, garam masala powder, 1/4 tsp of black pepper powder, lemon juice, 2 tsp of coconut oil, salt and mix well. Marinate the squid with this masala and keep aside for 30 minutes
Heat coconut oil in a pan and add marinated squid and cook for 10 minutes on a low flame.
After the squid is partially cooked, add green chilly, curry leaves and finely chopped onions and fry until it is golden colour.
Finally add black pepper powder and chopped coriander leaves and mix well. Switch off the flame.
Tasty Squid Pepper Fry is ready.
