Pathiri is a traditional dish among Kerala Muslim cuisine. It is really very tasty and easy to prepare. There are different pathiries named kaipathiri, nai pathiri and this thin pathiri is the most easiest among them. Pathiri is much loved by the Kerala Muslims and it is prepared and served on special occasions, including parties for newly married couples and during Iftar.
This thin Pathiri can be easily made within 25 minutes with less ingredients that are readily available at your home. It goes well with any non vegetarian curry especially Chicken curry.

Try to make this recipe at your home!
- Rice Powder (roasted) or pathiri powder - 2 cups
- Water - 2 cups
- Salt to taste
Heat a bowl add water with salt. When it boils slowly add the rice powder to it stir well and switch off the flame.
Remove the contents to a bowl and knead it well to make the dough. You have to knead it very well at least for 10 minutes. A well kneaded dough make soft pathiries.
Make balls from it and roll it as we do for chapathi. You can use the rice powder while rolling the pathiri.
Heat the pan on medium flame, when it is hot place the pathiri on it. when steam comes turn the pathiri to other side. Remember it will take only few seconds so do not wait for long.
Then turn again, soon you can see the pathiri puffs up.
Remove the pathiri from the pan. Though we cook on medium heat pathiri should not get colour change or brown spots.
When pathiri is done, dip it in coconut milk.
The tasty Pathiri is ready. You can serve it with any non veg curry.
