Beef Peralan Recipe | ബീഫ് പിരളൻ is a traditional spicy beef dish. It is very tasty and delicious non vegetarian dish. You can serve it with rice, chappati, nan or parotta. Parotta and beef peralan is a nice combination.

It is a dry gravy type dish and is very spicy. The pepper and chili powder gives a spicy punch to this dish. You can reduce or increase the spiciness as you desire. Here we are using coconut oil. As we know any dish prepared in coconut oil gives a wonderful aroma and nostalgic traditional feeling.

Ingredients

  • Beef - 250 gm
  • Onion - 2 nos ( chopped )
  • Ginger paste - 1 tsp
  • Garlic paste - 1 tsp
  • Pepper powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Red chilly powder - 1 tsp
  • Coriander powder - 1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Shallot - 10 nos ( chopped )
  • Green chilly - 3 nos ( chopped )
  • Coconut oil - 5 tbsp
  • Curry leaves - 3 sprigs
  • Coconut pieces - 1/2 cup
  • Salt to taste
  • Hot water - 1 cup
  • Garam masala - 1/4 tsp

Method

Step 1

Clean and cut the beef in to small pieces. wash well with water. keep aside,

Step 2

Heat 3 tbsp of coconut oil in a pressure cooker, add chopped onion. saute until onion becomes transparent.

Step 3

Add ginger paste, garlic paste and chopped green chillies in to it and saute well until the raw smell goes.

Step 4

Add red chilly powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder and saute in a very low flame for 2 minutes.

Step 5

Then add beef, 1/4 tsp of pepper powder, garam masala, coconut pieces and salt and mix well.

Step 6

Add 1 cup of hot water and cover with the lid and cook well for 4 whistles. Switch off the flame and keep it aside.

Step 7

Heat 2 tbsp of coconut oil in a pan add curry leaves. Saute well and then add chopped shallot in to it and saute for 5 minutes.

Step 8

After 5 minutes, add cooked beef and mix well. Keep it in a medium flame till to attain a thick texture. Once all the masala dries up and coats the beef on all over, switch off the flame.

Step 9

Tasty Beef Peralan is ready.
