Broken wheat milk Kheer (Nurukku Gothambu Payasam) can be made in 20 minutes in a very very simple way using pressure cooker.

Here, I am sharing a simple and healthy kheer recipe in an easy way. There are only 3 steps you have to follow in this recipe. Try at your kitchen!

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cup broken wheat
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 liter fresh milk
  • 1 tin (100 ml) sweetened condensed milk
  • 5 tbsp sugar powdered well with 1 cardamom
  • 2 pinch salt
  • Seasoning:
  • 1 tbsp ghee or butter
  • 5 badam or cashew nut

Method

Step 1

In a pressure cooker add all payasam ingredients, mix well and cook until 2 whistle come.

Step 2

Then switch off the flame and keep the cooker lid closed for 10 minutes. Mean while heat ghee or butter and fry badam or cashew nuts.

Step 3

After 10 minutes open the lid of pressure cooker and season the payasam with fried badam or cashew nuts.

Step 4

Note: Before adding seasoning check whether the broken wheat is cooked well and the consistency of payasam is as you wish. If you feel that the Payasam consistency has to be changed you can adjust the same by adding more milk or by boiling the Payasam by continuously stirring and evaporating excess water. Make sure that the seasoning is added at last to lock the flavor.
