Chakkakuru Vada is a quick and easy appetizer and goes well with hot tea. Vada is a common term for many different types of savory fritter type snacks from South India with a set of common ingredients.

Jack fruit seeds help in increasing the blood circulation in the scalp. As you know, proper circulation of blood is essential for the hair to grow well. So, jack fruit seeds are very beneficial for promoting hair growth. These seeds are rich sources of Vitamin A. Vitamin A is essential for maintaining healthy and strong hair. The phytonutrients present in jack fruit seeds help in fighting cancer.

Jack fruit seeds contain protein in high amounts. Jack fruit seeds are rich in iron and provide the body with sufficient iron. Consuming jack fruit seed is an excellent way to build up your muscles. Jack fruit seeds are high on vitamin A (7), which is the one of the most important vitamins for hair health as it prevents dry and brittle hair. It is also packed with minerals like calcium, zinc, and phosphorous.

Ingredients

  • Jack Fruit Seeds / chakkakuru - 200 gm
  • Chick pea flour - 5 tsp
  • Onion - 1 no ( chopped )
  • Ginger - 1 small piece ( chopped )
  • Garlic - 3 cloves ( chopped )
  • Green chilly - 4 no ( chopped )
  • Curry leaves - few
  • Pepper powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Coconut oil - 200 ml
  • Water - 200 ml
  • Salt to taste

Method

Step 1

Clean and cut chakkakuru into medium size pieces.

Step 2

Heat a pan add chakkakuru, salt and 200 ml of water in a medium flame and cook for 10 minutes. Mash the cooked chakkakuru with a spoon.

Step 3

Take a bowl add mashed chakkakuru, chick pea flour, chopped onion, ginger, green chilly, curry leaves, pepper powder, salt and mix them well.

Step 4

Make equal sized ball out of it and flatten the balls a little bit by pressing them in-between the palms.

Step 5

Heat coconut oil in a pan and deep fry the vada until it is golden brown. Switch off the flame. Drain excess oil on a tissue paper.

Step 6

Tasty and hot Chakkakuru Vada is ready.
