Quick and Easy Kerala Snacks Recipe

CheambAppam / ചേമ്പ്അപ്പം is a yummy, quick and easy Kerala snack recipe. All you have to do is prepare a quick batter and deep fry it in oil.

This quick kerala snack CheambAppam is prepared with simple ingredients which will be normally available at your kitchen. The main ingredients of CheambAppam are rice flour, sugar, egg and Coconut milk.

CheambAppam can be served as a tea time snack and kids will love it.

Ingredients

  • Roasted rice flour- 1 cup (the one we use for pathiri)
  • Egg -1
  • Baking soda - a pinch
  • Coconut milk - 1/4 cup
  • Sugar - 5 tsp
  • Coconut oil - 1 cup

Method

Step 1

Take a bowl and add rice powder, egg and mix well. Then add the coconut milk and make a thick batter with dropping consistency.

Step 2

Add sugar and baking soda and mix well. keep it for 5 minutes.

Step 3

Heat coconut oil in a pan and drop small portion of batter with a spoon or hand and fry it in medium heat.

Step 4

Deep fry both sides until it turns to golden brown. Take out and drain excess oil on a paper towel.

Step 5

Tasty CheambAppam is ready. Enjoy!!!
