Chettinad chicken curry is a tasty curry.Ā Chettinad is a small region in Tamil Nadu and famous for its delicious cuisine. This chickenĀ dish has a unique taste with its spices.

It goes well with rice, chapati, paratha, vellayappam and very easy to prepare at home. It can be serve during special occasions and can surprise the guests with this special chicken recipe.

Chettinad chicken curry recipe | Easy chicken curry recipe

Ingredients

  • Chicken - 500gm
  • Turmeric powder - 1 tsp
  • Dry red chilly - 10 nos (cut into two pieces)
  • Fennel seeds - 1/2 tsp
  • Shallots - 100 gm (chopped)
  • Tomato - 2 nos (chopped)
  • Coconut oil - 5 tsp
  • Coriander leaves - few (chopped)
  • Water - 2 cup
  • Salt to taste
  • Curry leaves - few

Method

Step 1

Clean the chicken with water and cut it into medium size pieces.

Step 2

Marinate the chicken pieces with salt and turmeric. Keep it aside for 30 minutes.

Step 3

Take a pan and heat coconut oil, then add fennel seeds and broken red chillies. Saute for 2 minutes. Do not burn them.

Step 4

Add chopped shallots and saute for another 5 minutes until they become brown.

Step 5

Then add the chopped tomatoes and saute for 4 minutes, Add the marinated chicken and mix it well.

Step 6

Add water and salt to the chicken then stir well. Keep it on medium flame and let the chicken turn brown. Keep stirring the chicken so that they do not stick to the pan.

Step 7

Cook the chicken for 15 minutes. Add curry leaves, chopped coriander leaves and mix well. Switch off the flame.

Step 8

Tasty Chettinad chicken curry is ready.
