Ingredients
- Chicken - 1/2 kg
- Ginger Garlic Paste - 2 tsp
- Onion - 2 nos ( chopped lengthwise )
- Tomato - 2 nos ( chopped )
- Red Chilli Powder - 1 tsp
- Coriander Powder - 1/2 tsp
- Turmeric Powder - 1/4 tsp
- Cumin Powder - 1 tsp
- Cumin Seeds - 1/4 tsp
- Fennel Seeds - 1/2 tsp
- Cloves - 5 nos
- Cinnamon Stick - 3 nos ( 2 inch length )
- Cardamom - 2 nos
- Bay Leaf - 1 no ( crushed )
- Black Pepper Powder - 1/2 tsp
- Water - 1 cup
- Coconut Oil - 5 tbsp
- Coriander Leaves - 1/2 tbsp ( for garnishing )
- Salt to taste
Method
Step 1
Heat oil in a kadai and add cloves, fennel seeds, cumin seeds, cinnamon stick, cardamom, bay leaf and fry for 2 minutes on medium flame.
Step 2
Add sliced onion into it and saute till transparent. Add ginger garlic paste to it and mix well. Then add chopped tomatoes and cook for another 5 minutes.
Step 3
Add red chilly powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, cumin powder and salt into it and mix well.
Step 4
Then add chicken pieces and water into it and mix well. Cover and cook the chicken for 10 minutes on a low flame.
Step 5
Finally add black pepper powder into it and mix well. Cook for another 5 minutes on low flame. Switch off the flame.
Step 6
Tasty Chettinad Pepper Chicken is ready. Garnish with coriander leaves.
