Easy Homemade Ice Cream – Ice cream with banana powder
Easy Homemade Ice Cream is made out of Banana powder. You can use any good quality Banana powder whereas I have used Banatone’s banana powder. Actually I got this recipe inside its container, tried it and everybody in my home liked it. So I thought of sharing this recipe.
Morover you can also make payasam, halwa, pudding etc using banana powder. I have been using Banatone to make porridge for my little one since she started having semi solid food. This is really a healthy feed for babies above the age of 5 months. It is highly rich in carbohydrates, proteins, vitamins, trace minerals with fibre contents and hence its good for growing kids also.
A 250 gm pack of Banatone banana powder cost around Rs99.
- Milk - 500 ml
- Egg yellow - out of 1 egg
- Sugar - 8 tbspn
- Banana powder - 21/2 tbspn
- Egg white - out of 1 egg
- Vanilla Essence - a few drops
First of all boil the milk and keep aside to cool. Pour small amount amount of milk (enough to mix 21/2 tbspn of banana powder) to a small bowl. Add banana powder to this and make a smooth paste and keep aside.
Mix the egg yellow and sugar well by a spoon till you get a thick paste. Now add milk to this by adding little by little and then stirring it, so that milk and the paste blends well.
Now heat the milk and the egg mixture over low flame. Once the mixture is heated add the banana powder milk paste to this and stir continously so that no lumps are formed. Continue stirring until you get the desired consistency (semi solid form). Remove from heat.
Then add egg white little by little to the cooked milk and egg mixture. Mix well and allow to cool.
Now add vanilla essence to this, mix well and refrigerate it for 2 hours.
After 2 hours take it out and blend it in a blender and again refrigerate till it gets fully set (usually it happens in 4- 5 hours). Decorate with red cherry, cashews or any other dry fruit. Enjoy your yummy ice cream!
