Spicy Chicken Thoran Recipe / ചിക്കൻ തോരൻ is an excellent side dish. It is a nice rice accompaniment and can also be served with any types of rotis.

Homemade Chicken Thoran Recipe – ചിക്കൻ തോരൻ – Non Vegetarian Recipe

This is my own version of dry chicken recipe and I am sure Spicy Chicken Thoran / ചിക്കൻ തോരൻ will be enjoyed by all of your entire family. As it is a thoran, I have added grated coconut too. It is a little spicy dish. So you can lessen or increase the spiciness as you prefer.

Ingredients

  • Chicken - 500 g
  • Small onion - 1 1/2 cups
  • Kashmiri chilly powder - 2tsp
  • Garam masala - 1/2 tsp
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Grated coconut - 1 1/2 cups
  • Dried red chilly - 5 nos
  • Ginger garlic paste - 2 tsp
  • Green chilly - 3 nos (chopped)
  • Coconut oil - 4 tbsp
  • Curry leaves - 3 strings
  • Onion - 1 no (sliced)
  • Salt to taste
  • Water - 1 cup

Method

Step 1

Clean and cut chicken into small pieces.

Step 2

Take a mixer grinder, add grated coconut, shallots, curry leaves, green chilly, dried red chilly and shallots. Grind this for 3 minutes, but not grind into paste.

Step 3

Heat coconut oil in a pan. Add sliced onion, ginger garlic paste and saute for 3 minutes.

Step 4

Add chicken pieces, turmeric powder, kashmiri chilly powder, garam masala powder, salt and 1 cup of water. Cover and cook the chicken in a low flame for 15 minutes.

Step 5

When chicken is properly cooked, add the grinded coconut mixture. Saute well till the water evaporates. Switch off the flame.

Step 6

Tasty Chicken Thoran is ready. Serve as a side dish for rice.
