Kappa Pothirachi Recipe – Tapioca cooked with beef

Kappa Pothirachi (Kappa biriyani / Tapioca cooked with beef) always reminds me my teenage days while we used to have evening talks with cousins at my family home on Sundays when we all gathered to see our grandmother. The dish tastes
more yummy eating with entire family having fun!!!

Ingredients

  • Tapioca - 1 kg
  • Beef - 1/2 kg
  • Ginger paste - 1 tbsp
  • Garlic paste - 1 tbsp
  • Coriander powder - 3 tbsp
  • Red chilli powder - 1 tbsp
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 tbsp
  • Pepper powder - 1/2 tbsp
  • Fennel seed powder - 1/2 tbsp
  • Garam masala - 1/4 tbsp
  • Salt to taste
  • For seasoning
  • Shallots finely chopped - 12
  • Garlic cloves finely chopped - 2
  • Curry leaves
  • Coconut oil - 4 tbsp

Method

Step 1

Except tapioca, add beef and all other ingredients in a pressure cooker and mix well. Add 1 cup water and cook the beef.

Step 2

Once beef is half cooked, to the gravy add tapioca and cook all the ingredients together again until beef and tapioca are cooked well.
