Karimeen fry is a spicy fried fish coated with masala. Karimeen (Pearl spot fish) is one of the most favored fish in Kerala. Karimeen is considered as a delicacy in Kerala and found mainly in the backwaters. Some of the prominent Karimeen dishes are Karemeen Fry, Karemeen Molly and Karemeen Pollichathu.
Frying paste is made of red chili powder, black pepper powder, turmeric powder, fennel powder, ginger garlic paste, lemon juice, water and salt. This paste will make karimeen fry very delicious. After applying this paste on the cleaned fish and keep the the fish for marination for minimum 1 hour.

Ingredients
Clean the Karimeen with cold water along with lime and salt and then using a knife make gashes on each side of the fish. Then mix red chili powder, black pepper powder, turmeric powder, fennel powder, ginger garlic paste, lemon juice, water and salt. And make a thick paste. Then marinate the fish with this paste on both sides and keep it aside for 1 hour. Heat enough oil in a pan and then layer curry leaves in the oil. Place the marinated Karimeen on top of curry leaves and shallow fry it on a low flame for about 10 minutes. Turn it around and fry the other side for about another 10 minutes. When both sides of the fish becomes golden brown in color transfer it to a paper towel. Garnish with green chillies & onion slices. Serve hot Karimeen Fry / Pearl Spot Fish Fry with rice.Method
