Marble cake is one of the easy cake recipe and perfect choice for the Christmas party celebration. This cake is made with two colour layered batter makes the cake a unique one.

It can be used as a teatime snack or nalumani palaharam. While serving this cake can surprise the guests and relatives. Definitely it will attract the children and they will enjoy to have this special cake.

Ingredients

  • All purpose flour (maida) - 1/2 cup
  • Eggs - 2 nos
  • Cocoa powder - 2 tsp + 1/4 tsp
  • Ghee - 1/2 cup
  • Powdered sugar - 1/2 cup + 2 tsp
  • Baking powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Vanilla essence - 1/2 tsp
  • Butter - 1 tsp ( for greasing baking pan )
  • Flour - 1 tsp ( to dust baking dish )

Method

Step 1

Sieve thrice all purpose flour with baking powder. Keep aside in a separate bowl.

Step 2

Separate egg yolk and egg white in a bowl. Keep aside.

Step 3

In a wide bowl, beat together powdered sugar and the ghee until smooth and creamy with an electric beater.

Step 4

Add egg yolk and beat well until creamy and light golden colour.

Step 5

Add egg white and beat well again until creamy.

Step 6

Gently add sieved flour and mix slowly with a thick tablespoon until well combined. Do not use electric beater now.

Step 7

Divide this cake mixture into 2 portions (Transfer one portion into a bowl)

Step 8

Gently add cocoa powder in one portion and add vanilla essence in other.

Step 9

Grease baking dish with 1 teaspoon butter and dust with 1 tablespoon flour. ( sprinkle about 1 tablespoon of flour inside a cake pan and shake to coat all greased surface. Turn pan upside down to tap out the excess flour).

Step 10

Transfer vanilla cake mixture into a greased baking dish and gently pour cocoa mixture over it ( 2 layers ).

Step 11

Stir both the cake mixture slowly with a fork. Now we can see a marble effect.

Step 12

Spread evenly with a spatula, and bake at 180 degree celsius or 350 degree fahrenheit for 45 minutes or till golden colour or till a skewer inserted in the centre comes out clean.

Step 13

Take cake out from oven. Keep aside to cool. Cut into desired shape and size.

Step 14

Tasty Marble cake is ready.
