Pacha Manga Pachadi Recipe – പച്ച മാങ്ങ പച്ചടി

Celebrations like Vishu, Onam…. recalls Kerala Sadya with lots of side dishes and loads of rice. Pacha Manga Pachadi – പച്ച മാങ്ങ പച്ചടി is served as a side dish in sadya. It is prepared with raw mango. Now it is the time of mangoes and no need to hang back. It is very delicious and tasty.

Pachadi is slightly sweet and sour curry. Coconut and yogurt together gives a nice flavor to the pachadi. It is served in kerala sadya as a side dish. Pachadi can be prepared with raw or ripen fruits. Here I am using raw mangoes for preparing pachadi.

Ingredients

  • Raw mango - 1 medium
  • Grated coconut - 1/2 cup
  • Yogurt - 1 cup
  • Green chilly - 3 nos
  • Mustard seeds -1/2 tsp
  • Coconut oil - 2 tsp
  • Dry red chilly - 2 nos
  • Curry leaves - a sprig
  • Salt to taste
  • Water - 1/2 cup

Method

Step 1

Clean and cut raw mangoes into small pieces.

Step 2

Grind the coconut and yogurt well along with mustard seeds and chopped green chilly.

Step 3

Cook mango pieces with 1/2 cup of water and salt in a pan for 5 minutes.

Step 4

Once the mango pieces becomes slightly tender, reduce heat and add the grinded mixture and cook again for 3 minutes and switch off the flame.

Step 5

For tempering, heat coconut oil in a pan, add mustard seeds and when it crackles, add whole red chillies and curry leaves.

Step 6

Pour this on the top of pachadi.

Step 7

Tasty Pacha Manga Pachadi is ready.
