Pazham Nirachathu (Banana with sweet coconut filling) is a traditional Malabar snack that is mainly served for guest during an evening tea, or during Iftar. This is a very tasty snack with coconut filling and dipped in maida batter. Pazham Nirachathu is the malayalam word for Stufffed Banana. Ripe Banana stuffed with grated coconuts, nuts and eggs, then its fried in ghee.
It is a very healthy snack for kids. This is a tasty snack with filling and dipped in batter and fried. In this we do not cut the plantains into many pieces just a slit and will fill that portion with filling. Ingredients
- Banana - 3 nos
- Grated coconut - 1/2 cup
- Cashew nuts - 10 nos
- Raisins - 10 nos
- Ghee - 5 tbsp
- Water - 1 cup
- Maida - 1 cup
- Sugar - 4 tbsp
Method
Step 1
Peel the bananas. Mix maida in water to make a thick paste.
Step 2
Heat a pan add sugar, grated coconut and cashew nuts and raisins and stir it well in very low flame for about 5 minutes.
Step 3
Make a slit in the banana vertically, make sure that it does not part the banana into two pieces. Into the slit put the coconut mix and seal it with the maida paste. Stuff all the bananas in the same manner.
Step 4
Heat ghee in a pan place all the stuffed bananas into the pan and shallow fry till it becomes golden brown.
Step 5
The tasty and delicious pazham nirachathu is ready.
