Pazham Pulissery Recipe | പഴം പുളിശേ്ശരി is a traditional Kerala dish. It is one of the side dishes in Kerala sadya. It is a very delicious and tasty recipe.

Pulissery is a curd based curry. It is a sweet and sour recipe. Pulissery is made with fruits. The fruits make the dish sweet and curd makes it sour. It is very well blend with rice. Pulissery can made with ripe mangoes, pineapple or bananans. We use bananas here. When the fruits get cooked, the curd mixed with coconut paste is added to the fruits gives a awesome taste and smell.

Ingredients

  • Ripe plantain - 2 nos
  • Grated coconut - 1 cup
  • Curd - 1 cup
  • Green chillies - 4 nos
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp
  • Mustard seeds - 1/4 tsp
  • Dried red chilly - 2 nos
  • Curry leaves - 1 sprig
  • Fenugreek powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Coconut oil - 2 tsp
  • Water - 1 cup

Method

Step 1

Peel ripe plantain and cut in to small pieces.

Step 2

Take a bowl, add ripe plantain pieces, sliced green chilies, water, turmeric powder and salt. Cook for 5 minutes.

Step 3

Grind grated coconut with cumin seeds to a smooth fine paste.

Step 4

When ripe plantain gets cooked, add coconut paste, fenugreek powder and stir well. Remove from the flame before it starts boiling.

Step 5

Heat oil in a pan for tempering. Add mustard seeds, curry leaves and red chilies. Fry until the mustard seeds starts spluttering.

Step 6

Add this tempering to the curry and mix well.

Step 7

Tasty Pazham Pulissery is ready.
