Potato and Corn Peralan

Potato and Corn Peralan is a delicious and healthy vegetarian side dish which is prepared in a spicy masala paste. Simple, tasty and quick side dish. Try out this yummy and easy dish at your home.

The potato’s fiber, potassium, vitamin C and vitamin B-6 content coupled with its lack of cholesterol supports heart health. Being a good source of antioxidant and carotenoids, corn may promote eye health. It is also a rich source of many vitamins and minerals.

  • Potato - 500 gm
  • Corn - 500gm ( corn kernels )
  • Onion - 1 no ( chopped )
  • Garlic - 4 pods
  • Dry Red Chilly - 4 nos
  • Clove - 3 nos
  • Cinnamon Stick - 2 small pieces
  • Cardamom - 2 nos
  • Khuskhus - 1 tbsp
  • Tomato - 2 nos ( chopped )
  • Turmeric Powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Water - 10 tbsp
  • Coriander Leaves - 2 tbsp
  • Coconut Oil - 5 tbsp
  • Salt to taste


Step 1

Boil the potatoes with their skin until it turns soft. When it cools down, peel the potatoes and cut it into cubes.

Step 2

Heat a pan and add corn, 5 tbsp of water and cook for 5 minutes. Keep aside.

Step 3

Take a blender and add onion, dry red chilly, garlic, cardamom, cinnamon stick, khuskhus, clove and blend this to a fine paste. Masala paste is ready.

Step 4

Heat oil in a pan and add the masala paste and saute well for 5 minutes.

Step 5

Then add chopped tomato into it and cook on a low flame for 5 minutes. When the tomato is cooked, add boiled potato, corn, salt, turmeric powder and 5 tbsp of water. Mix well and cook on a low flame for 5 minutes.

Step 6

After 5 minutes, switch off the flame and garnish with chopped coriander leaves.

Step 7

Tasty Potato and Corn Peralan is ready.
