Potato Bonda / ഉരുളക്കിഴങ്ങ് ബോണ്ട / Aloo Bonda is one of the best evening snack recipe. Potato Bonda is a crispy snack with yummy potato masala filling.

Potato Bonda is a deep fried snack made with gram flour batter and stuffed with delicious potato filling.

Ingredients

  • Potato - 3 nos
  • Ginger -1 piece (chopped)
  • Garlic - 3 nos (chopped)
  • Green chilly - 5 nos (chopped)
  • Curry leaves - 1 string (chopped)
  • Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Mustard seeds - 1/4 tsp
  • Onion -1 no (chopped)
  • Gram flour (kadala mavu) - 1 cup
  • Red chilly powder - 1 tsp
  • Asafeotida powder - one pinch
  • Water - 1 cup
  • Salt to tate
  • Coriander leaves - 1 string (chopped)
  • Coconut oil - 3 cup

Method

Step 1

Clean and peel the potatoes and cut into small pieces. Cook potatoes by adding salt and water. When cooked, mash them well with a spoon and keep it aside.

Step 2

Heat coconut oil in a pan. Splutter mustard seeds then add curry leaves, green chillies, chopped garlic, chopped ginger and chopped onion. Saute them well for 3 minutes.

Step 3

Add turmeric powder, salt, mashed potatoes and mix well and cook for 5 minutes. Finally add coriander leaves and keep it aside to cool down.

Step 4

Make small balls with the potato mixture.

Step 5

In a bowl mix gram flour, chilly powder, asafeotida powder, salt and water to make a thick batter.

Step 6

Heat coconut oil in a pan. Dip the balls one by one into the batter and deep fry.

Step 7

Tasty Potato Bonda is ready. Serve hot Potato Bonda with tomato sauce.
