Punjabi chicken curry is a soul food of Punjabi’s. It is neither sweet nor spicy. This curry is very delicious and fragrant.

Ingredients

  • Chicken - 250 gm (cut in to medium pieces)
  • Kashmiri red chilly powder - 1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Coriander powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Ginger garlic paste - 1/2 tsp
  • Cumin seed - 1/4tsp
  • Suger - 1/4 tsp
  • Curd - 1/4 tsp
  • Tomato - 1 (chopped)
  • Cashew nut paste - 1tsp
  • Coconut paste - 1tsp
  • Onion - 2 (chopped)
  • Ghee - 4 tsp
  • Coriander leaves - 1/2 tsp
  • Fenugreek leaves - 1/2 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Garam masala powder 1/2 tsp
  • Water - 1 cup

Method

Step 1

Heat 2 tsp ghee in a pan. Add 1 chopped onion with ginger garlic paste, red chilly powder, coriander powder, cumin seed, turmeric powder and fry for 2 minutes.

Step 2

Grind this into a smooth paste.

Step 3

Heat 2 tsp ghee in a pan add sugar, 1 chopped onion and fry for 2 minutes.Add the grinded paste and fry 2 minutes.

Step 4

Add chopped tomato and cook till the oil comes out. Add chicken pieces and salt.Cook on a medium flame for 5 minutes. Add cashew nut paste and curd and cook for 2 minutes.

Step 5

Now chopped coriander leaves and fenugreek leaves. Punjabi chicken curry is ready to served.
