Steamed Chicken Ada is another famous dish from Malabar side, prepared by steaming crescent shaped dough filled with Chicken masala.
This Chicken filled ada is a very tasty and easy to prepare snack. You can also use mutton or beef for preparing the filling.

Ingredients
- Rice flour – 1 cup
- Water - 1 1/2 cup
- Salt – to taste
- For the filling :
- Chicken – 250 gms
- Onion – 2 nos (chopped)
- Ginger garlic paste - 1 tsp
- Green chilies – 2 nos (chopped)
- Red chily powder – 1 tsp
- Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
- Coriander powder – ½ tsp
- Pepper powder – 1 tsp
- Garam Masala – 1 tsp
- Curry leaves – few (chopped)
- Coriander leaves – few sprigs (chopped)
- Salt to taste
- Coconut oil - 3 tsp
Method
Step 1
Clean and wash the chicken pieces. Boil the chicken pieces with turmeric powder & some salt.
Step 2
Once cooked drain the stock and shred the chicken using a mixer.
Step 3
Heat coconut oil in a pan and add ginger-garlic paste, green chilies and sauté well.
Step 4
Add chopped onion and cook for 3 minutes.
Step 5
Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, pepper powder, garam masala, coriander powder and mix well.
Step 6
Add the shredded chicken, chopped coriander leaves, curry leaves and salt. Mix well and cook for 3 minutes. The filling is ready.
Step 7
Boil 1-1/2 cup of water with salt. Pour the hot water to the rice flour little by little and mix it with a spoon. Keep it aside till it is warm enough to handle.
Step 8
Take some dough and make a ball out of it (like for chapattis)
Step 9
Place it on the plastic sheet and press evenly to form a thin circle of rice dough.
Step 10
Add 2 tsp of filling on one side of dough, cover with the other side of dough and pinch the edges together to make a crescent shape.
Step 11
Repeat the process with the rest of the dough and filling.
Step 12
Place this in a steamer and steam for about 10 minutes on medium flame.
Step 13
