Ambazhanga Uppilittathu ( เด…เดฎเตเดชเดดเด™เตเด™ เด‰เดชเตเดชเดฟเดฒเดฟเดŸเตเดŸเดคเตโ€Œ ) or Hog Plum Brine is anย item that can be seen in small street-side shops in Kerala villagesย (Southern state of India) .

Ambazhanga fruit or Hog Plum Brine fruit is an excellent source of vitamin C and iron, and calcium. This fruit isย very high in fiber and have very few calories.

This Hog Plum Brine will help to preserve Ambazhanga ( เด…เดฎเตเดชเดดเด™เตเด™ )ย or Hog Plum for a long time using natural ingredients. Moreover it is a traditional recipe and at the same time very easy to prepare.

Ingredients

  • 20 Hog Plums or Ambazhanga
  • 4 cup water (depends on the size of plum)
  • Salt to taste
  • 5 green Chilli
  • 1/4 cup Vinegar (Optional, only if you like sour taste)

Method

Step 1

Wash Hog Plums or Ambazhanga very well in running water. Meanwhile boil water and add salt.

Step 2

Put Hog plums or Ambazhanga into boiling water and switch off flame.

Step 3

Add slit green Chilli's into it and allow it to cool.

Step 4

Remove 1/4 cup water and add 1/4 cup vinegar.

Step 5

Check salt and add more if required as per your taste.

Step 6

Once water cools transfer all the contents into a jar.

Step 7

Tight the lid and keep aside for a week. After a week you can use the Ambazhanga Uppilittathu or Hog Plum Brine as a side-dish for parboiled rice.
