Nadan Kerala Beef Recipe

Beef Ularthiyathu / ബീഫ് ഉലർത്തിയത് is a very tasty and simple recipe with beef. It is rich in protein, vitamins, and minerals. It is an excellent source of vitamin B12, zinc, iron and phosphorus, which contribute to optimal growth, cognitive function, red blood cell development and also prevents iron deficiency.

Beef is pressure cooked and then the gravy is thickened till it becomes dry and gets well coated with the meat. It is a perfect side dish for rice and porota.

Ingredients

  • Beef - 500 gm
  • Ginger Garlic Paste - 2 tsp
  • Onion - 2 nos
  • Green Chilly - 4 nos
  • Pepper Powder - 1 tsp
  • Coriander Powder - 1 tsp
  • Red Chilly Powder - 1 tsp
  • Turmeric Powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Garam Masala - 1/2 tsp
  • Curry leaves - 4 string
  • Coconut Pieces - 1/4 cup
  • Salt to taste
  • Coconut Oil - 1/4 cup
  • Vinegar - 1 tsp
  • Eastern Meat Masala - 1/2 tsp
  • Water - 2 cup

Method

Step 1

Clean and wash the beef with water and drain.

Step 2

Heat oil in a non stick pan and add chopped onion, 1 tsp ginger and garlic paste, salt, curry leaves and chopped green chilly.

Step 3

Saute until the onion become light golden brown.

Step 4

Add red chilly powder, turmeric Powder, coriander powder, garam masala and saute it in low flame. Add vinegar and switch of the flame.

Step 5

Then make a fine paste of this masala mix.

Step 6

Take a cooker and add beef pieces, masala mix, salt, water and cook for 3 whistle. Switch off the fire and open after 10 minutes

Step 7

Heat oil in a heavy bottomed cooking pan and add curry leaves, eastern meat masala, and coconut pieces and fry for 4 minutes.

Step 8

Finally add cooked beef to this and mix well and roast till the beef is well coated with the masala. Finally add 1 tsp of pepper powder to it.

Step 9

Beef Ularthiyathu / ബീഫ് ഉലർത്തിയത് is ready. Enjoy!!!
