Beetroot juice widens blood vessels and reduces the amount of oxygen needed by muscles during activity, according to the Daily Mail. Beetroot juice is a natural source of nitrate, which is thought to be the active ingredient in affecting athlete’s performance. Blood pressure can be controlled by nitrate content present in the beetroot.
Drinking beet juice daily can increase blood flow to the brain in older adults. Beets or beetroots, as they are called, belong to the Chenopodiaceous family.
Health benefits of beet roots can be attributed to their richness in nutrients, vitamins and minerals. They are a source of carotenoids and lutein/zeaxanthin. Beets are also rich in dietary fiber, vitamin C, magnesium, iron, copper and phosphorus. Beet is a source of beneficial flavonoids called anthycyanins. They are very low in calories but have the highest sugar content of all vegetables.
Beetroot juice has a lot of medicinal properties which is excellent for people suffering from anemia. It tames high blood pressure and increases the stamina and also good for skin and complexion. Beets contain iron and other minerals that are important for blood oxygenation and the development of strong tissues within the body. Beet juice can increase blood sugar levels and may cause problems for individuals who are diabetic or otherwise on a sugar-restricted diet. If you have problems with blood sugar or are diabetic, consult your doctor before drinking beet juice and monitor your blood sugar while doing so. Here, in this magical drink i have used Carrot for more taste. Adding Carrot gives more flavor to this drink. Your kids will love this juice and it is good for your kid’s health. Try this recipe at your home!!
Ingredients
- Beetroot - 1
- Carrot - 1
- Sugar - 1/2 cup
- Lemon Juice - 2 tsp
- Water - 2 cups
- Ice cubes - 3 nos
Method
Step 1
Peal the skin of the beetroot and carrot and clean with water. Cut the beetroot and carrot into small pieces.
Step 2
Pressure cook the beetroot, carrot and 1 cup water upto 1 whistle. Cool this for 5 minutes.
Step 3
Put the carrot, beetroot, sugar and lemon juice into a mixer grinder. Add 1 cup water and grind it for 4 minutes. Strain this into a strainer.
Step 4
Pour this juice in to a glass and add ice cubes. The refreshing beetroot juice is ready to be served.
