Carrot payasam recipe | Kerala payasam recipe

Carrot Payasam is a tasty sweet item. This dessert can serve during special occasions like birthday parties, wedding parties and the festivals like Diwali, Onam, Christmas, Eid etc.

Carrot is a healthy vegetable and highly packed with antioxidants, fiber, vitamins etc.

It is good for the skin, eyes and hair. It helps in preventing diseases like cancer, heart related problems and diabetes.

This payasam is very easy to prepare within minutes with less ingredients.

Carrot payasam recipe | Kerala payasam recipe

Ingredients

  • Carrot - 2 (medium size)
  • Milk - 2 cups
  • Sugar - 5 tsp
  • Ghee - 3 tsp
  • Cashew nuts - 5 nos
  • Cardamom powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Water - 1/2 cup

Method

Step 1

Clean the carrots with water and cut into small pieces.

Step 2

Heat a pressure cooker, then add carrot pieces, 1/2 cup of water and cook for 3 whistles. Using a mixer grinder, grind it to a smooth paste. Keep aside.

Step 3

Heat 3 tsp of ghee in a pan, add the cashew nuts and fry it till golden brown and keep aside.

Step 4

In the same pan add the carrot paste and saute for 5 minutes. Add milk then stir well.

Step 5

Add sugar and cook for 5 minutes until it becomes thick. Now add the cardamom powder, roasted cashew nuts and stir well.

Step 6

Tasty carrot payasam is ready.
