Chakka Pradhaman is a traditional payasam of Kerala made with jackfruit.ย Jackfruit pieces are cooked ย and then sweetened with jaggery and coconut milk is used for cooking the payasam.

This delicious Payasam can be served warm or cold. This chakka payasam is a simple and delicious sweet for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • Ripe Jackfruit - 10 pieces
  • Coconut milk - 2 cups
  • Jaggery - 1/2 cup
  • Water - 1/2 cup
  • Cashew nuts - 5 nos
  • Cardamom powder - a pinch
  • Coconut pieces- 1 tbsp
  • Ghee - 4 tsp

Method

Step 1

Heat a pressure cooker, add ripe jack fruit and 1/4 cup of water and cook up to 2 whistles in medium flame . Grind this to a fine paste.

Step 2

Mix jaggery with 1/4 cup water and cook for 4 minutes and strain with a strainer. Add the jack fruit paste to the jaggery syrup and mix well. Let it become little thick and add 2 tsp ghee. Then add coconut milk and mix well.

Step 3

Meanwhile heat 2 tsp ghee in a pan. Ad coconut bits and cashews and fry till golden brown.

Step 4

So when jack fruit mixture is about to boil switch off the flame and then add fried cashews, coconut bits, cardamom powder and stir well. The tasty chakka payasam is ready to be served.
