Tomato Chammanthi (Thakkali Chammanthi) is a simple and delicious recipe.  This curry goes well with Dosa, Idli, Oothappam and boiled rice. The curry can be cooked easily in 10 minutes.
Try this easy recipe.


  • 4 tomatoes finely chopped
  • 1 onion chopped
  • 2 green chilli
  • 5 curry leaves
  • 1/4 tbsp red chilli powder
  • 1/4 tbsp turmeric powder
  • 4 pinch mustard seed
  • 3 tbsp coconut oil
  • Salt to taste


Step 1

Splutter mustard seeds in coconut oil.

Step 2

To this add chopped onion and fry the onions till onions are translucent .

Step 3

Then add tomatoes until the tomatoes are softened and cooked through.

Step 4

Add green chilli, curry leaves, red chilli, turmeric powder and required salt. Saute for another 1 minute and switch off the flame. Yummy tomato chammanthi is ready to serve.
