Chicken Curry Recipe – ചിക്കൻ കറി – Using Eastern Chicken Masala
Chicken Curry is a very simple recipe which you can easily make at home. This curry goes well with Rice, Chapati, Parota and Appam. A delicate blend of the finest spice powders to produce the perfect chicken curry. Marinate the chicken with the masala powder and salt and keep aside for about 20 minutes.
Chicken is one of the highest protein suppliers normally found in people’s diets. This is not only a very good source of protein, but it is also a very good source of vitamins and minerals. The vitamins and minerals found in it are very useful in numerous activities in our body. Chicken consumption has been found to be useful in controlling blood pressure as well. Intake of warm chicken soup also provides relief from common cold, including symptoms like a congested nose and a sore throat.
For masala, I am using Eastern Chicken Masala.

Ingredients
- Chicken pieces - 500 gm
- Onion - 2 nos
- Ginger - 1 piece ( chopped )
- Garlic - 4 cloves
- Green chilly - 3 nos ( chopped )
- Eastern chicken masala - 3 tbsp
- Mustard seeds - 1/4 tsp
- Curry leaves - a few
- Coconut oil - 4 tbsp
- Water - 200 ml
- Thick coconut milk - 100 ml
- Salt to taste
Method
Step 1
Clean the chicken with water and cut it into medium size pieces.
Step 2
Take a bowl add chicken pieces, eastern chicken masala, salt and mix well. Keep this for minimum 20 minutes.
Step 3
Grind ginger, garlic and green chilly into a fine paste, and set aside.
Step 4
Heat coconut oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, sliced onion and saute until golden.
Step 5
Add ginger, garlic and green chilly paste and saute until their raw smell is gone.
Step 6
Add curry leaves, marinated chicken pieces, salt and 200 ml of water and cover and cook on a low flame for about 20 minutes, until the chicken pieces are cooked well.
Step 7
Open the lid and add 100 ml of thick coconut milk and cook for 3 minutes. Switch off the flame.
Step 8
Garnish with curry leaves.
Step 9
Yummy Chicken Curry is ready.
