Elaneer Payasam Recipe

Elaneer payasam is very simple to make and it tastes really awesome. The bits of the tender coconut pieces along with the blend of milk and coconut milk makes this dish really delicious.

Tender coconut is considered as a wholesome beverage by nutritionists. Tender coconut water being rich in potassium and other minerals plays a major role to increase the urinary output. The tender coconut has 90 to 95 percent water. Coconut water helps to prevent dehydration and also relieves tiredness and fatigue by replenishing the natural salts lost by the body when you sweat.

Ingredients

  • Tender coconut pulp - from one tender coconut
  • Tender coconut water - from one tender coconut
  • Tender coconut pieces - 50 gm
  • Milk - 500 ml
  • Coconut milk - 100 ml
  • Sugar - 3 tbsp
  • Condensed milk - 5 tsp
  • Ghee - 2 tbsp
  • Cashew nuts - 5 nos
  • Raisins - 10 nos
  • Cardamom powder - 1/4 tsp

Method

Step 1

Blend tender coconut water and the coconut pulp in a blender and keep aside.

Step 2

Heat a pan and add milk. When it starts boiling add condensed milk and combine well. Stir occasionally to avoid milk sticking to the bottom of the pan. Add sugar, cardamom powder and stir well.

Step 3

Allow the milk to boil in medium flame till the sugar gets dissolved completely. Switch off the flame and allow the milk to cool down. When the milk is at room temperature, add coconut milk and stir well.

Step 4

Add blended coconut mixture and chopped tender coconut pieces. Mix well.

Step 5

In a pan, heat 2 tbsp of ghee and fry the cashew nuts and raisins for 2 minutes.

Step 6

Finally add the fried cashew nuts and raisins to the payasam and mix well.

Step 7

Tasty Elaneer Payasam is ready. Refrigerate it for about 30 minutes and serve chilled.
