Fish pickle recipe | മീൻ അച്ചാർ recipe

Fish pickle is a spicy and an extremely delicious side dish. This side dish is little time consuming but it is good in taste. It is a perfect choice that can be serve with hot rice.

If your child hesitated to eat fish, here is a tricky way to serve fish by making fish pickle ( മീൻ അച്ചാർ  ). By serving this special pickle with hot rice, will definitely surprise  your family members and other friends.

Fish is a complete healthy food. It is packed with lots of vitamins, minerals, proteins etc. Consuming sufficient amount of fish with the food can control some serious diseases like Cancer, Alzheimer’s, and Heart diseases. It is good for bones, skin and eyes.

Ingredients

  • King Fish / Neymeen - 500 gm
  • Ginger- 1 big piece ( chopped )
  • Garlic - 10 cloves ( chopped )
  • Green chilly - 10 nos ( chopped )
  • Red chilly powder - 3 tbsp
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Fenugreek powder ( uluva ) - 1/4 tsp
  • Asafoetida powder ( kayam ) - 1/4 tsp
  • Vinegar - 1 cup
  • Hot water - 2 cup
  • Curry leaves - 3 strigs
  • Sesame oil - 4 tbsp
  • Vegetable oil - 1/2 cup
  • Salt to taste
  • Mustard seeds - 1/4 tsp
  • Fenugreek seeds - 1/4 tsp

Method

Step 1

Clean and cut the fish into small pieces.

Step 2

Take a bowl then add 1 tsp red chilly powder, turmeric powder, 1 tsp of water and salt. Make a fine paste. Marinate the fish pieces and Keep aside for 30 minutes.

Step 3

Heat vegetable oil in a pan shallow fry the fish pieces. Keep aside.

Step 4

Heat sesame oil in the same pan then splutter mustard seeds and fenugreek seeds. Add ginger, garlic, green chilly and curry leaves. Saute it for a minute.

Step 5

Reduce the flame then add the red chilly powder, fenugreek powder, asafoetida powder and saute well.

Step 6

To this add salt, vinegar, water and boil well. Add fried fish pieces and cook for 10 minutes in a low flame.

Step 7

Switch off the flame.

Step 8

Tasty Fish pickle is ready. Serve it with cooked rice as a side dish.
