Idli Manchurian is a fusion item. It is very simple to make with the left over idli’s.

The preparation is very similar to Gobi Manchurian. This is a Indo-Chinese food item.

It ( ഇഡലി മൻജൂരിയൻ  ) can used as breakfast, teatime snack or nalumani palaharam. Idli is a healthy food item.

Making this food item can surprise your guests in special occasions.

By adding tomato sauce, soy sauce, green chilly sauce makes this food a unique taste.

Idli Manchurian recipe | ഇഡലി മൻജൂരിയൻ recipe

Ingredients

  • Idli - 5 nos
  • Maida - 3 tsp
  • Cornflour - 3 tsp
  • Ginger garlic paste - 1 tsp
  • Red chilli powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Onion - 2 nos (chopped)
  • Garlic - 1 tsp (chopped)
  • Ginger - 1 tsp (chopped)
  • Pepper powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Soya sauce - 1/4 tsp
  • Tomato sauce - 2 tsp
  • Green chilly - 4 nos (chopped)
  • Green chilly sauce - 1/4 tsp
  • Capsicum - 1/2 (chopped)
  • Celery - 1/2 tsp
  • Spring onion - 1/4 tsp
  • Water - 1/2 cup + 2 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Vegetable oil - 1 cup
  • Vinegar - 1/4 tsp
  • Red food colour - a pinch

Method

Step 1

Cut the idlis into small cubes. Take a bowl and add 1/4 tsp of cornflour and 2 tsp of water and mix well,

Step 2

Take another bowl, mix maida, 2 & 3/4 tsp of cornflour, salt, ginger-garlic paste, red chilly powder and water to make a thick paste.

Step 3

Dip the idli pieces into this batter.

Step 4

Heat vegetable oil in a pan and add the idli pieces into the hot oil and deep fry till it turns lightly brown colour. Drain the excess oil with a tissue paper.

Step 5

Then heat oil in a pan and add chopped garlic, ginger and saute for a minute. Add onion, green chillies, capsicum, spring onion, celery and saute for 4 minutes.

Step 6

Then add soya sauce, tomato sauce, green chilly sauce, vinegar, salt and mix well in high flame.

Step 7

Reduce the flame and add cornflour mixture and red food colour to it and mix well. Add fried idlis, pepper powder and stir well.

Step 8

Garnish with spring onions and celery.

Step 9

Yummy Idli Manchurian is ready to serve.
