Kerala Style Chicken Fry Recipe – കേരള ചിക്കൻ ഫ്രൈ – Spicy Recipe

You can use either boneless chicken or not. It is up to your preference. The most important thing is that the chicken should be marinated for at least one hour. But I suggest, minimum 4 hours for better results. Marinate the chicken and keep it in the fridge and take it out just half an hour before frying.

Ingredients

  • Chicken - 250 gm
  • Green chillies - 4 nos
  • Shallots - 5 nos (chopped)
  • Ginger garlic paste - 1 tsp
  • Red chilly powder - 1 tbsp
  • Pepper powder - 1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder - a pinch
  • Coriander powder - 1 tbsp
  • Curry leaves - 2 sprigs
  • Coriander leaves - 2 sprigs
  • Grated coconut - 3 tbsp
  • Coconut oil - 5 tbsp
  • Salt to taste

Method

Step 1

Cut the chicken into medium size pieces and wash well with water.

Step 2

Take a bowl, add chicken pieces and marinate with red chilly powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, ginger garlic paste and salt. Mix well and keep aside at least for 1 hour.

Step 3

Heat a pan and add coconut oil, chopped shallots, curry leaves. Saute well for 3 minutes. Add grated coconut, marinated chicken pieces and mix well.

Step 4

Close with a lid and cook till the chicken is done.

Step 5

Once the chicken is cooked, add pepper powder, green chilies, garam masala and cook till the chicken is dry. Add coriander leaves and curry leaves.

Step 6

Switch off the flame.

Step 7

Tasty Kerala Style Chicken Fry is ready.
