Kilsa | Sweet Recipe

Kilsa is a delectable sweet recipe which is very popular in North Kerala. It is a simple, quick and tasty sweet recipe to make at home. This smooth, creamy sweet is a Bakrid special dish made with Maida. It can also be made with Wheat and Ragi.

It is an eggless sweet that can be prepared in just 20 minutes. Try out this yummy mouth watering sweet garnished with dry fruits such as cashew nuts and raisins.

Ingredients

  • Maida - 1 1/2 cup
  • Grated Coconut - 1/2 coconut
  • Water - 2 cup
  • Sugar - 3 tbsp
  • Cashew Nuts - 10 nos
  • Raisins - 10 nos
  • Ghee - 2 tbsp
  • Salt - a pinch

Method

Step 1

Take a bowl and add maida, 2 cups of water and mix it. Keep it soaked till it absorbs the water and then drain excess water from the maida.

Step 2

Extract thick and thin coconut milk from the coconut and keep it aside.

Step 3

Heat a pan and add maida, salt and thin coconut milk. Do stir continuously and cook for 5 minutes.

Step 4

Add thick coconut milk and sugar into it and stir well for another 3 minutes or until it thickens. Switch off the flame and spread the mixture on a plate.

Step 5

Heat a pan, add ghee and fry the cashew nuts and raisins.

Step 6

Drop this fried cashew nuts and raisins on top of the mixture along with the ghee.

Step 7

Tasty Kilsa is ready.
