Koorka Beef Ularthiyathu Recipe

Koorka Beef Ularthiyathu is a simple and delicious curry and a perfect side dish for rice and parottas. This is very delicious and unique combination.

Chinese potato is a healthy and tasty vegetable. It is a seasonal vegetable yet popular in Kerala. It is a rich source of calcium, vitamin A and iron. This is enriched with calcium, iron and valuable vitamins which are essential for our health. This is still considered as a poor man’s delicious dish.

Ingredients

  • Beef - 500 gm ( cut into thin cubes )
  • Koorka ( Chinese potato ) - 300 gm
  • Onion - 3 nos ( chopped )
  • Green chilly - 4 nos
  • Ginger garlic paste - 2 tsp
  • Red chilly powder - 1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Coriander powder - 1 tsp
  • Pepper powder - 1 tsp
  • Garam masala - 1/4 tsp
  • Water - 300 ml
  • Shallots - 5 nos ( chopped )
  • Curry leaves - 4 string
  • Coconut oil - 100 ml
  • Salt to taste

Method

Step 1

Clean and wash the beef with water and drain. Cut into thin cubes.

Step 2

Clean and wash koorka. Cut them into pieces. Pressure cook koorka along with salt,100 ml of water and turmeric powder till one whistle.

Step 3

Heat coconut oil in a cooker and add chopped onion, 2 tsp ginger and garlic paste, salt, curry leaves and chopped green chilly. Saute until the onion become light golden brown.

Step 4

Add red chilly powder, turmeric Powder, coriander powder, pepper powder, garam masala and saute it on low flame. Add 200 ml of water and cook for 3 whistle. Switch off the flame and open after 10 minutes.

Step 5

After 10 minutes open the lid of the cooker, add cooked koorka into it. Mix this well with beef and cook for few more minutes. Check the salt, cook until water evaporates completely and switch off the flame.

Step 6

Heat coconut oil in a pan add chopped shallots, curry leaves. Saute well for 3 minutes on a low flame and garnish with this and mix well.

Step 7

Tasty Koorka Beef Ularthiyathu is ready.
