Kuttanadan Meen Curry / Nadan Meen Curry / കുട്ടനാടൻ മീൻ കറി is such a delicious Kerala style fish curry recipe. It tastes best when it is made in a claypot ( manchatti ). It goes well with Puttu, Rice, Boiled Kappa etc. Tryout this yummy fish curry at your home.

Ingredients

  • Fish - 1 kg
  • Shallots - 10 nos ( chopped )
  • Garlic - 7 cloves ( chopped )
  • Ginger - 1 inch piece ( chopped )
  • Green Chilly - 3 nos ( slit )
  • Kudampuli ( കുടംപുളി ) - 4 medium pieces
  • Kashmiri Red Chilly Powder - 2 tbsp
  • Turmeric Powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Coriander Powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Curry Leaves - 2 string
  • Coconut Oil - 4 tsp
  • Mustard Seeds - 1/2 tsp
  • Fenugreek Seeds ( ഉലുവ ) - 1/4 tsp
  • Water - 1 cup ( 250 ml )
  • Salt to taste

Method

Step 1

Soak Kudampuli in a cup of warm water and keep it aside.

Step 2

Clean and cut the fish into medium size pieces.

Step 3

Take a small bowl and add kashmiri red chilly powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, 4 tbsp of water to make it a paste.

Step 4

Heat coconut oil in a manchatti ( clay pot ) and add mustard seeds. When the mustard seeds start to splutter, add fenugreek seeds, curry leaves, green chilly, shallots, sliced ginger, garlic and saute for 5 minutes.

Step 5

Add the prepared paste to the pan and fry on low flame till the oil separates.

Step 6

Add the soaked Kudampuli, salt, water into it and bring to boil for 5 minutes.

Step 7

Add the fish pieces to it and cook on medium heat till the fish is cooked and the gravy is thick. Switch off the flame. Let it covered for 30 minutes.

Step 8

Tasty Kuttanadan Meen Curry is ready.
