Malpua sweet recipe | Indian pancake recipe

Malpua sweet is a tradiional Indian sweet item. Malpua are fritters or pancakes served as a dessert or a snack in the Indian subcontinent.

This item can commonly served in West Bengal during festivals, like Diwali, Holi.

It can be used as a teatime snack or nalumani palaharam.

It is a delicious item can serve to the guests and surprise them.

The preparation for this Indian snack needs only less time.

Malpua sweet recipe | Indian pancake recipe

Ingredients

  • All Purpose Flour (Maida) - 100 gm
  • Semolina (suji/rava) - 150 gm
  • Condensed milk - 1/2 tin (200 gm)
  • Warm water - 200 ml
  • Baking powder - a pinch
  • Fennel seeds - 1/4 tsp
  • Salt - a pinch
  • Vegetable oil - 5 tsp
  • For sugar syrup:- Sugar - 3/4 cup
  • Water - 1 cup
  • Pistachios - 5 nos (chopped)
  • Badam - 5 nos (chopped)

Method

Step 1

Take a bowl soak semolina in warm water for about 20 minutes.

Step 2

To this add condensed milk, all purpose flour, baking powder and the salt. Mix well.

Step 3

Heat oil in a saucepan. Pour a ladle full of batter into the oil to make small flat round shapes.

Step 4

Fry the malpuas on one side and then fry the other side till both sides gets nice golden brown. Cook it in a low-medium flame only, else the malpuas will burn and uncooked.

Step 5

Drain the excess oil and immediately immerse the malpuas in the sugar syrup ( Please refer step 7 for sugar syrup preparation ). Leave it in the syrup for about 10 seconds. Garnish it with chopped pista and badam.

Step 6

Yummy Malpua is ready.

Step 7

Sugar syrup preparation: Mix sugar and water in a pan and bring it to a boil. Keep aside.
