Moong Dal (ചെറുപയർ) Dosa

Moong Dal (ചെറുപയർ) Dosa is a simple, easy and very nutritious recipe. Moong Dal Dosa is recommended as an “ALLOWED” item for Atkins Diet Induction phase.

Nutritional facts about Moong Dal  is low in Saturated Fat, Sodium and very low in Cholesterol. It is also a good source of Protein, Thiamin, Niacin, Vitamin B6, Pantothenic Acid, Iron, Magnesium, Phosphorus and Potassium. Also a very good source of Dietary Fiber, Vitamin C, Vitamin K, Riboflavin, Folate, Copper and Manganese. This recipe is a good choice for low-carb diet indian recipe.

This dosa can be eaten as snack or breakfast item.

Ingredients

  • Moong Dal ( ചെറുപയർ )- 1 cup
  • Fennel seeds (പെരുംജീരകം) - 1/2 tbsp
  • Asafetida (ഉലുവ) powder - 4 pinch
  • Water - 1 1/2 cup
  • For Garnish:
  • Onion - 1 (Finely chopped)
  • Salt to taste

Method

Step 1

Soak moong dal overnight.

Step 2

Grind moong dal, fennel seeds, asafetida powder and salt with water to make thick Dosa batter (Dosa mix).

Step 3

Heat non-stick pan and pour Dosa batter and spread immediately to round shape.

Step 4

Garnish with chopped onion on top.

Step 5

When one side is cooked flip to other side & cook for 10 seconds.

Step 6

Now the Dosa is ready to serve hot. Good to serve with coconut chutney or paneer burji.

Step 7

Tip: Instead of using dal powder, use soaked moong dal and grind it to make batter. Soaked moong dal has much more protein content than dry powder. Hence the moong dal Dosa is good for Atkins Diet Induction Phase.
