PaalKozhukkatta is a popular snacks item in India, Kerala.ย This dessert can be used as a breakfast, teatime snack or nalumani palaharam.

‘Kozhukkattai’ย can be serve during special occasions like parties and festivals such as Easter, Ganesh chathurthi etc.

Usually this snackย is prepared by using rice flour, jaggery and grated coconut. But this is entirely different from that and by adding coconut milk, makes more rich and tasty. It is very easy to prepare within minutes.

Kozhukkatta – Paal Kozhukkatta recipe | Rice balls cooked in coconut milk

Ingredients

  • Roasted rice flour - 1cup
  • Thin coconut milk - 1cup
  • Thick coconut milk - 2 cup
  • Water - 2 cup
  • Sugar - 3/4 cup
  • Cardamom powder - a pinch
  • Salt to taste

Method

Step 1

Boil 1 cup of water with pinch of salt in a pot.

Step 2

Take a vessel then add rice flour, 1/2 cup of thin coconut milk and mix well. Add the hot water little by little to the rice flour and mix with a spoon.

Step 3

When it is cooled, knead the mixture of rice flour by using your hands to form a smooth dough.

Step 4

Make small balls using the dough.

Step 5

Take a wide pan, then add 1/2 cup of thin coconut milk with water and allow it to boil. Add powdered cardamom, sugar and stir well.

Step 6

Reduce the heat and add the rice balls to the pan. Cover and cook for 10 minutes on very low heat.

Step 7

Add thick coconut milk and stir well and cook for 2 minutes. Remove from heat and keep it covered for 3 minutes.

Step 8

Serve it as warm or chilled.

Step 9

Tasty Paal Kozhukatta is ready.
