Pappada Vada – Quick & Easy Kerala Snack Recipe

Pappada Vada is a traditional Kerala evening snack. You will find this snack item in the local hotels or tea stalls throughout Kerala.

Pappada Vada is a tasty and easy to prepare snack. Pappada vadas are prepared by deep frying the pappads (Kerala papadam) dipped in the rice batter.

Do try this quick & easy Pappada Vada snack recipe.

Ingredients

  • Pappadam - 10 nos
  • Raw Rice - 1/2 cup
  • Red Chilly Powder - 1tsp
  • Asafoetida Powder - a pinch
  • Turmeric Powder - a pinch
  • Cumin Seeds - 1 tsp
  • Black Sesame Seeds - 1 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Water - 3/4 cup
  • Coconut Oil - 3 cup

Method

Step 1

Wash and clean the rice and soak it in water for 20 minutes.

Step 2

Drain out water and grind the soaked rice along with red chilly powder and turmeric powder into a smooth paste in a mixer adding enough water.

Step 3

Transfer it to a medium sized bowl and add salt, black sesame seeds, cumin seeds, asafoetida and mix everything well together.

Step 4

Heat coconut oil in a pan.

Step 5

Dip each pappads in rice batter one by one at a time and deep fry them till it turns to golden colour on both sides.

Step 6

Tasty pappadavada is ready. Enjoy Crispy & Crunchy Pappada Vada with a hot cup of tea!!!
