Rava Kesari – Semolina Pudding Recipe
Rava Kesari is a sweet dish, popular in South India especially in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. It is made using Ghee, Rava, Sugar. Rava Kesari is easy to make and delicious and can be served as Hot or Cold.
About Rava: Rava is made by grinding husked wheat and is used extensively in Indian cuisines. Rava is also used to make Rava dosa, Rava idli, Upma, Rava Ladoo and Rava halwa / Rava Kesari.
- Rava (Semolina) - 1 cup
- Ghee - 8 tbsp
- Cashewnuts - 8 nos
- Raisions - 8 nos
- Kesari Powder (orange colour) - 1/2 Spoon
- Sugar - 1 cup
- Water - 2 cup
- Cardamom (Crushed) - 1/2tsp
Take a pan and add 2tbsp of ghee. Add rava to this and fry for 4 minutes. Keep the fried rava separately in a plate.
Pour 2 cups of water in the same frying pan and add 1/2 tsp of kesari powder (orange colour)into it.
When the water boils add the fried rava into it little by little and stir well for 5 minutes in a low flame.
When the rava is cooked and add sugar into it little by little stirring continuously. Add 4 tbsp of ghee into it.
Take a pan add 2 tsp of ghee and fry the cashew nuts and raisions.Finally add the golden brown cashew nuts,raisions and crushed cardamom and mix well.
The tasty rava Kesari is ready to served.
