Squid/ Calamari/ Koonthal/ Kanava is a popular sea food. Squid is low in calories, contains no saturated fat and is high in natural protein. There are different ways of making squid. This Squid roast is a delicious and spicy preparation.

Ingredients
- Squid/ Koonthal/ Kanava - 1/2 kg (cleaned and cut the squid into rings)
- Onions - 2 large ( sliced)
- Ginger Garlic paste - 2 tspn
- Green Chillies - 4 nos
- Tomato - 1 (chopped)
- Kashmiri chilli powder - 1 tspn
- Turmeric Powder - 1/4 tspn
- Salt to taste
- Pepper Powder - 1/2 tspn
- Garam Masala - 1/4 tspn
- Coconut oil - 5 tspn
- Curry leaves - 2 sprigs
- Coriander powder - 1/2 tspn
- Water - 2 cup
Method
Step 1
Clean and cut the squid into rings.
Step 2
In a pan add 4 tbspn of coconut oil and add sliced onion. Saute well till the onion become light brown in colour. Now add ginger garlic paste, green chillies, curry leaves and saute for 3 minutes.
Step 3
Add kashmiri chilly powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, chopped tomato and saute for 4 minutes.
Step 4
Add the clean squid, water and salt and mix well. Cover with a lid and cook for 10 minutes on a medium flame.
Step 5
After 10 minutes take the lid and add garam masala, pepper powder and coconut oil and mix well and roast it for 5 minutes on medium flame. Delicious squid roast is ready to be served with rice, appam and chappathi.
