Ingredients
- Roasted Vermicelli/Semiya - 1/2 cup
- Milk - 4 cups
- Sugar - 1/2 cup
- Ghee/Coconut oil - 1 tbspn
- Cashew nuts broken - 1 tspn
- Raisins - 2 tspn
- Cardamom powder - 1/4 tspn
- Water - 1/4 cup
Method
Step 1
Heat ghee and roast Vermicelli/Semiya till golden brown.
Step 2
Now take a thick bottomed pan and add milk along with 1/4 cup water and sugar. Stir well. When the milk gets slightly hot add the roasted Vermicelli/Semiya and stir continuously.
Step 3
Continue stirring until the vermicelli/semiya is cooked till soft. After vermicelli/semiya is cooked boil for few more minutes till the milk thickens slightly.
Step 4
Now add cardamom powder. Mix well. Remove from heat.
Step 5
Heat ghee in a pan and roast cashew nuts and raisins. Garnish the Payasam with roasted cashew nuts and raisins. Yummy vermicelli/semiya payasam/kheer is ready to serve.
