Sweet Bonda Recipe – ബോണ്ട – ഉണ്ടൻ പൊരി – മധുരപലഹാരം

Sweet bonda is a typical South Indian snack that has various sweet and spicy versions at different regions. This is a simple snack and easy to prepare. The batter  is made out of maida, rava, wheat flour, jaggery, coconut and water.. This is really a yummy teatime snack.

Ingredients

  • All pupose flour/ Maida - 1 cup
  • Wheat flour - 1 cup
  • Semolina/ Rava - 1 cup
  • Jaggery - 1/4 cup
  • Grated coconut - 1/2 cup
  • Cardamom powder - a pinch
  • Baking powder - 1 pinch
  • Water - 1/4 cup
  • Fried coconut pieces - 1/4 cup
  • Coconut oil for deep frying - 3 cup
  • Cumin seed - a pinch

Method

Step 1

Melt the jaggery in water and strain it.

Step 2

Take a bowl add maida, rava, wheat flour, grated coconut, cardamom powder, cumin seed, fried coconut pieces, baking powder with melted jaggery and make a fine paste. keep this batter aside for 20 minutes.

Step 3

Heat oil in a pan on medium heat. Pour the batter into the oil with a ladle. Deep fry the bonda till it become golden brown in colour. Serve with hot tea or coffee. Enjoy!!
