Avalose podi | അവലോസ് പൊടി recipe

Avalose Podi ( അവലോസ് പൊടി  ) recipe is easy to make. Its is a traditional Kerala snack made with rice powder and grated coconut.

Usually ‘avalose podi’ is eaten with little sugar and a banana. When this avalose podi is mixed with jaggery syrup and shaped into small balls, then it becomes ‘avalose unda’.

It is a tasty and healthy evening snack or ‘nalumani palaharam’ with a cup of hot tea.

Try this tasty snack in your kitchen and enjoy the delicious taste.

Ingredients

  • Raw rice (Pachari) - 500 gm
  • Grated coconut - 3 cups
  • Cumin seeds - 2 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Sesame seeds - 2 tsp
  • Sugar - 5 tsp

Method

Step 1

Soak the rice for 5 hour. Drain it and make fine powder using a mixer grinder.

Step 2

Mix rice powder, grated coconut, cumin seeds, sesame seeds and salt by hand. Keep it aside for 2 hour.

Step 3

Heat a heavy bottom pan or uruli and add rice powder mixture. Dry roast the mixture on a medium low flame for about half an hour till the mixture becomes dry and turns light brown in colour. Stir continuously.

Step 4

Remove from flame and add sugar. Mix well.

Step 5

Tasty avalose podi is ready.
