Ingredients
- Ripe banana - 2 nos
- Water - 1 cup
- Jaggery - 350 gm
- Coconut milk (thin) - 2 cup
- Coconut milk (thick) - 1 cup
- Ghee - 4 tsp
- Cardamom powder- 1/2 tsp
- Cashew nut - 50 gm
- Raisins - 20 gm
- Coconut pieces - 1/2 tsp
Method
Step 1
Peel and cut the banana into small pieces.
Step 2
Take a coconut and grate it. In a blender add grated coconut with water and squeeze it and take coconut milk (thin and thick coconut milk).
Step 3
Take a thick bottom vessel boil 1 cup of water and add banana pieces. Cook for 5 minutes.
Step 4
Mash the banana in a grinder.
Step 5
Take a pan melt jaggery with 1/4 cup of water and remove impurities by straining.
Step 6
Take a thick bottom vessel add mashed banana and 2 tsp of ghee and cook for 3 minutes.
Step 7
Add melted jaggery into this mixture and cook on a medium flame and stir continuously. When this mixture is thick add thin coconut milk and stir and cook for 5 minutes.
Step 8
When this mixture is thick add thick coconut milk and mix well. Remove from fire. Do not allow the to boil.
Step 9
Sprinkle cardamom powder.
Step 10
Heat 2 tsp of ghee add coconut pieces, cashew nut, and raisins and fry for 2 minutes. Pour this in to the payasam. Delicious Banana payasam is ready to serve.
